Weather/What to Wear

The Sydney/NSW climate is generally temperate enough to allow a year-round outdoor lifestyle. It varies in different parts of the State.  Compared to the northern hemisphere the seasons are reversed: winter is in the middle of the year and summertime at the end.

Sydney experiences 138 wet days a year with an average annual rainfall of 1,223 mm. However, the city is renowned for its sunshine; there’s only an average 23 days a year when the sun doesn’t shine. The average temperature ranges for Sydney are:

Sunshine               You may hear the phrase 'slip, slap, slop' in NSW - this is a sun safety message and it encourages people to 'slip' on a T-shirt, 'slap' on a hat and 'slop' on some sun block when out in the sun. It is also advisable to stay out of the sun between 11 am and 2 pm in the summer months, as this is when the sun is at its hottest.

By Taxi or Shuttle

There are taxi stands outside each arrival area at either International or Domestic terminals of Sydney Airport, also known at “Kingsford-Smith Airport”. Journey time to Sydney metro is at least 20 minutes and an additional 10 to the North Sydney – Genesys University office.
Shuttle buses are available to hotels & metro locations, then public transport or taxis services are recommended to the North Sydney location.

Parking

There are local parking stations starting from around $20 AUS, public transport or other transport services recommended.

Public Transit "Train"

From Sydney Airport you can take a direct train to Sydney Metro train stations; Central Station, Wynyard, Town Hall, the approximate cost is $15 one way for this journey. Sydney metro train stations have connections to buses, taxi & even accommodation with hotels of your choice.
If you would like to commute to the North Sydney Campus you will need to take a connecting train from either metro stations; Central Station, Wynyard, Town Hall. The North Sydney Railway Station is located on the Northern line and only takes at most 15 minutes travel time.

North Sydney Railway Station

• Go through the gates at North Sydney Railway Station and walk up the stairs to street level, (do not enter Greenwood Plaza Shopping Arcade)
• At the top of the stairs turn right and walk down the hill and follow the street around to the Pacific Highway. You are now on Walker Street.
• Cross the highway and walk up the hill on the right hand side of Walker Street.
• Cross Mount Street (“The Corner” bar on the corner)
• Continue to the next cross street (Berry Street). 124 Walker Street is on this corner.
